Judy and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
Red and White Setter
In 2006 I went to England with friends to see the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels compete in the Crufts Dog Show.  Still in town the following day, I went back to the venue to see the Sporting dogs.  I happened to see what I can only describe as "giant cavaliers"!  They looked like blenheims but with ballet legs and a graceful stride that caught my breath.  I returned to the U.S. determined to have one of these beauties for myself.  After a year of research and finding that there were few in the states, I found the breeders of Canadian champions in Toronto where the Irish Red and White Setter had been officially recognized.  One of Dr. Patricia and Dr. Albrecht Ua Saighail's bitches, coowned with a breeder in Carolina, was due to whelp.  Aislingcudo Mairnealaigh Dil  "Nessa" became mine at eight weeks in the summer of 2007.

The American Kennel Club had begun to establish Foundation Stock Service for IRWS with an eye toward future AKC registration.  in January, 2009, The Irish Red and White Setter became the newest AKC Sporting Breed.  We traveled with Nessa to Palm Springs, California for their inaugural show.  I'm proud to report our 18 month old girl took Reserve Winners Bitch over eleven females.  Hopefully this will be the beginning of a long and successful career.
